Overview

Jeff is a Partner in WH Burkley’s Litigation Group. He joined the firm after a recent two- and half-year clerkship in United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, following more than a decade in litigation practice. That combination of courtroom experience and judicial service gives Jeff a practical understanding of both effective advocacy and how courts evaluate complex disputes.

Jeff represents businesses, financial institutions, professionals, and other clients in complex civil disputes. His practice spans commercial litigation, creditors’ rights, bankruptcy-related litigation, and appeals. His federal clerkship exposed him to a wide range of civil cases and sharpened his ability to master unfamiliar subject matter, identify the issues that will matter to the court, and develop an efficient path to resolution.

Experience

  • Represented a multinational rail-equipment manufacturer in connection with a multimillion-dollar contract dispute involving the design, manufacture, acceptance, and termination of a custom transit maintenance vehicle.
  • Represented an individual in connection with a complex federal civil RICO matter through appellate proceedings and litigation on remand involving alleged fraud, bankruptcy proceedings, and property disputes.
  • Represented a liquidating trustee in connection with fiduciary-duty and avoidance claims arising from alleged insider transfers and related-party transactions within a multi-entity skilled nursing enterprise.
  • Represented a regional bank in connection with the workout and recovery of distressed equipment leasing assets.
  • Represented a residential contractor in connection with consumer protection and breach of contract claims arising from a high-value home improvement project.
  • Represented a skilled nursing facility operator in connection with complex an adversary proceeding in bankruptcy court related to alleged torts and breach of contract.
